We’ve gone on some lovely walks, Victoria has been doing some science about plants and even shocked her mum with what she remembered and how many questions she answered by herself! She’s helped mummy to bake a cake and also planted some seeds. Victoria has had a wonderful VE day and wanted to share with everyone what we did. We had our lunch out on the front with the 1940’s music and both had our blue dresses on. We’ve enjoyed some picture taking too 🙂

This week Seth has had lots of outdoor fun! He got a new bike, so has been out on it every day. He’s also been climbing trees, and watching ants on our drive. He really enjoyed moving the paving slabs and seeing how the ants moved underneath. Seth has made his own pizza again, and helped mummy cook tea.

We went out to clap for the NHS and Seth could only find one Welly, so he hopped! He banged really hard on mummy’s pan with a wooden spoon. Seth really enjoyed all the lorries and tractors driving past too.
What an experience!

For VE Day celebrations Evelyn made decorations. She looked at her great grandads medals and then made her own, she also made paper airplanes decorated as spitfires and flew them in the back garden, they went quite far! For afternoon tea on VE Day Evelyn made a Victoria sponge, she weighed out all the ingredients and all I had to do was put it in the over, it tasted delicious! Evelyn enjoyed her afternoon tea in the garden.

“Hello everyone

I have had a busy week learning all about VE Day and have enjoyed it very much.
Mum and I thought about learning the ‘Lindy Hop’, it was so fast! So we just sat and watched it on ‘You Tube’ instead hahahahahaha. We decorated our house and had afternoon tea on our front lawn and saw a lot of our neighbours.
I had fun doing some science experiments too ?

We had a great day. We watched some of the original footage, took part in the silence and then had fun! We joined in with our neighbours to decorate our house and eat in the front. We also played music from the era and surprisingly quite liked it!
It was lovely to all be together even with 2m between us!

Harry & Charlie really enjoyed VE Day. We couldn’t find any bunting to buy so we decided to make our own. We painted Union Jack flags and made bunting and hung it up outside our house. We baked Mars Rice Crispie squares and spent the day playing outside. We listened to Winston Churchill’s speech at 3pm and then had a bbq in the garden for our tea.

We have had so much fun this week making things for VE Day: decorations and cakes etc.. We had had 2 bbqs this week and a street party with social distancing rules. It was so nice to see the village decorated and people sat in gardens. On Thursday night all the lorries and tractors came through the village with lights and horns going it was amazing ..stay safe everyone xx

They decorated the front of the house with homemade bunting and pictures of 3 of their great grandparents who fought in WWII.
They also asked our neighbour some questions about VE Day in Barnetby 75 years ago and learnt that Silver Street was decorated with streamers running across the road and held in place by the upstairs window of the house opposite.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Cole enjoyed a 5k walk to see all the flags around the village. We had a picnic in the front garden and then into the back to have the water park out. They really enjoyed celebrating VE Day and making poppies to put on the lampposts. X
This week has been a fun one, the girls absolutely loved seeing Miss Sanderson & Mrs Houlton, what a surprise it was. Keira really really wanted to give Miss Sanderson a hug and cant wait until she can do just that. She loved her rainbow card from Miss Sanderson and Mrs Bellamy which now has a place of pride on her bedroom wall next to her bed. Keira has been working on some of the work sheets too with lots of enthusiasm.
Mia of course went a little shy seeing Mrs Houlton but afterwards couldn’t believe that she saw Mrs Houlton and she realised how much she is missing school all the teachers and her friends. Mia has also been busy working on some of the new work sheets.
Other then school work the girls have been busy playing in the garden, looking after our seedlings, playing with Coco the dog ( who is looking forward to a break from playing when the girls return to school).
We have also decorated the house for VE Day and had a garden party with a picnic lunch & BBQ, followed by another living room sleepover, it was a long night !!! The most exciting thing this week happened to Mia, after days and days of that wiggly tooth it came out this afternoon, she is very much looking forward to the tooth fairy visiting, not sure how the tooth fairy will keep to social distancing though Haha
We had a lovely VE Day celebration on Friday. We made our own bunting which adorned the gazebo. We baked flapjack, fresh scones and a celebration cake, and then we spent the day in our front garden playing games, face painting and chatting (from a social distance) to lots of our neighbours. There was music and dancing all day long. What a lovely way to mark the occasion ? We hope everyone had as much fun as we did xxx
